Overview

Here is some basic information on some of my last interesting travels. Basically I do much more, like short motorbike trips in the European Alps, sailing in theĀ  Mediterranean Sea and usual relaxing vacations. The pictures, reports and travel information provided here are more of interest for motorbike travellers and provided as is. Some travels contain only photo galleries.

If you have any questions, you can find my email address in theĀ About Me section.

2007

Indochina 2007In November/December 2007 we wanted to ride from Hanoi (Vietnam) through Yunnan (China) and back to Luang Prabang (Laos) with Minsk motorbikes. Unfortunatly we had problems with the Chinese government about our motorbikes, so the route was changed to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia. Again we had problems to get out in Vietnam a second time to Laos, Cambodia due the Vietnamese customs. So finally it got a Vietnam/Laos trip.

You can view the new Google-maps enabled gallery in the Indochina 2007 section.

2006

Asia 2006 In November/December 2006 we wanted to get an overview on some Asian countries. The trip lead us to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos and was done by using public transportation. Compared to Africa travelling in Asia is really easy and working well.

You can view the new Google-maps enabled gallery in the Asia 2006 section.

Slovak Republic

In September 2006 the weather was fine for a short 5 day trip to the Slovak Republic. The main goal was to find out if there are as nice motorbiking areas near the Tatra mountains as in the Alps and whats the country's status nowadays.

I have added some notes and information on the Slovak Republic 2006 page.

Pyrenees 2006

In May 2006 it was time for another long motorbike vacation. This time we decided to visit mainly the Pyrenees between France and Spain for about 3 weeks.

I have added some notes and information on the Pyrenees 2006 page. You can view the new Google-maps enabled gallery in the Pyrenees 2006 section. The pictures are mainly of interest for motorbikers.

2005

Alps 2006 In autumn 2005 I finally had enough vaction again to do a 3 week trip through the French Alps and the Provence by motorbike.

You can view the new Google-maps enabled gallery in the Alps 2005 section.

2004/2005

Africa 2004In November/December/January 2004/2005 I travelled through Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenia, Uganda and Rwanda by using public transportation.

You can find some pictures of this trip in the Africa 2004/2005 gallery and also a more detailed view of the route on a map.

2004

Andalucia 2004 In September/October 2004 we went to Andalucia, Spain by motorbike. The route leaded through Austria, Northern Italy (where we took the ferry from Genua to Barcelona), down the eastern Spanish coast to Andalucia, where we've spent most of the time. The route back leaded through some parts of the La Mancha back to Austria by also using the ferry. Andalucia is a nice area with lots of culture, but also small streets and lot of mountains for having fun with the motorbike. On the route there and back through Spain we used mainly big roads to loose as less time as possible.

You can find some pictures in the Andalucia 2004 gallery.

2003

Turkey 2003 In September/October 2003we went to Turkey by motorbike. The route leaded through Austria, Northern Italy (where we took the ferry from Ancona to Cesme), Central Turkey, Cappadocia and back along the Turkish coast.

I have provided a travel report on the Turkey 2003 page and some corresponding pictures in the Turkey 2003 gallery.

Cuba 2003In March 2003 we went to Cuba. After 3 days in prebooked hotel (required by the goverment) on the beach we rented a car and went 2 weeks through the country ending up for 5 days in Havanna.

Unfortunatly I was to lazy so far to scan some of the many pictures I have taken there.

2001

Cape verde 2001In November/December 2001 we travelled to some islands of Cape Verde. Most of the time we spent at the islands Sao Vicente, Santo Antao and Fogo. We booked the Cape Verde airline from Europe, since then it offered the best connecting flight prices inside the country. The airline is save and the only way to travel fast between the islands. The main international airports are at the islands of Sal and Santiago. Cape Verde has not much official sights, but the people are very friendly, love music and enjoy live. Travelling there is some kind of "Africa light" and very save compared to the African continent.

You can find some pictures of this trip in the Cape Verde gallery. While having a look at the pictures, you should probably listen to the music of Simentera e.g. Cabo Verde en serenata.

1999

Africa 1999 In November/December 1999 a friend of mine and I travelled through Zimbabwe, South Africa and Swaziland. The first part, including the Great Zimbabwe ruins, Kruger National Park, Swaziland, we've made on a truck with some overland safari company. In Durban we've quit the "white people, travel through white people's Africa" tour and went on our own to Cape Town.

You can find some pictures of this trip in the Africa 1999 gallery.
